Chickens coming home to roost

Today we went to the coffee morning in the village hall where we had a chat to a friend who's daughter is not too well, and then a failed attempt to convince Chicken Al (a devout vegetarian)that we would have to kill them if he returned our hens which he has been looking after during our holiday,we were hoping he would keep them but he was adamant that he was returning them tomorrow(sunday)as he felt they had killed his two hybrid hens, but his rare breed lacewing bantam has survived,I suppose he has a point as we observed a fracas when we left our hens with him before our holiday, and ours are survivors even Mr. Fox failed to get them.
Hoping for a slow return to normal life I was thwarted by work coming in from the book company and so its sunday at the drawing board, with the added burden of taking delivery of our feathered creatures.
