Bowling and Michelangelo

Today went bowling with Le Blade after which me and Sheila gave him a lift home, and chattered with the Le blades for quite a while, and ate nuts and stuff, while discussing holidays and local gossip.
The Montanas are in Ireland and enjoying the country but not the weather, which of course is wet, thats why its so green, and now MS wants to live there,it must be the breakfasts.
weather here was ok til around 5pm then a shower which has now passed over,Sexbomb sent us a brilliant e mail about Michelangelo's david statue,it has been passed on.
We are scheduled to go walking on Sunday with the Le Blades so I hope the weather is fine, not much else going on on the prairie so thats it.

Gyms and stuff

Heavy showers are order of the day today, not much happening on the prairie, the Montanas are on their way to Ireland, where it is sure to be raining, and the poms are suffering back trouble and bad moods according to Mr Montana.
This obsession with gymnasiums is not good,in general they are shysters who run them and medically unqualified, offering bad advice to the poor public, resulting in back injuries etc,if all you want to do is keep fit, running or cycling outdoors is far healthier than air conditioned buildings, and you can limit the stress you put on yourself better,I suppose now the gym fanatics will be up in arms at my tirade, but "quite frankly my dears I don't give a damn"is the quote that comes to mind. Weekly Bulletin

After a week of events including the funeral of George our neighbour, and the mini stroke Len our elderly friend on the caravan site suffered, he is home from hospital and improving daily,I realised I have gone a week without blogging.
Le Blade has almost completed the conservatory, and will tile the floor next week,he will be quite happy as he went up to Sheffield to watch the Blades and they won 3.0,an added bonus for him is the fact that Wednesday were trounced at Wolves, and I was rather pleased that the Millers won again, making 6 points from two games, leaving them bottom with 11 remaining deducted points to make up.
Heavy rain this morning but there is a little sunshine breaking through the clouds, hopefully it may clear up,the good old English summer!
The hens have been a nuisance coming through the conifer hedge into the front garden,I have now made it like a fortress with chicken wire, they only have six and a half acres at one side and about the same on the other, but the front garden seems to be more attractive.
Completed some posters for Aussie Geoff the Vicar in Sheffield and spent time looking at holiday options,Northern Mallorca is supposed to be very scenic and apparently a world away from the congested south of the island, but we can't decide what to do,and are waiting until later in the year,we had thought of finding the cheapest US destination flight and driving around the deep south,a trip we have made before but ran out of time around the new orleans area,we had hoped to travel into Texas ,the problem now is the hens, which need baby sitting.
Football season is under way, and I watched Arsenal v West Brom yesterday, not a great game,I am finding the old second division(now called the first) games more attractive to watch,as the premier is becoming like Italian football ,choreographed, and lots of theatrical shamming, the objective seems to be to stop any kind of physical contact which makes the whole thing a sham.
I see the Montanas are on a visit to Ireland,I hope they will BOTH try the guinness, and enjoy it,this must be one of the finest beverages in the world, and is the real thing not like imitations made in other countries, other nice things are ,bran bread, soda bread, and the Irish Breakfast,in the north known as the Ulster Fry,though I have only had the southern version, and can vouch for it,friday and saturday nights in the Dublin bars are an experience not to be missed, with the impromptu singing and dancing. ps buy guinness by the pint as they charge more for two halves.

Le Blade Blunted

Sunday morning is bright and breezy, scudding clouds and sun, temperature is 70f,in sea area humber,I dont know about rockall, shannon dogger etc, listeners to the shipping forecast will know what I mean.
Yesterday was village hall coffee morning,Sheila was selling stuff for the WI on a stall ,so I went down to check on Le Blades progress with the conservatory,it looks big enough to hold dances in,but he still has the floor to finish and mastic round the edges,I invited him and Norman his son in law round to watch The Blades on sky,but I think they were too busy with jobs on their respective abodes,it could have been an interesting few hours,as the Blades were robbed of a draw by Phillips with a brilliant goal, the type he used to score at Sunderland, and then the Owls went on to win 4-1 at Hillsbro, all in all not a good day for Le Blade.
Rotherham beat Lincoln 1-0 at Don Valley Stadium, where they now play home games,I think they have had points deducted again for financial midemeanours,it could be they will no longer exist as a league team, which will be a sad thing.

7 puddings

Here we are back on the prairie, after our visit to rainy lancashire, yesterday me Gina and Sheila went for lunch at a chinese all you can stuff down your gob buffet,Andrew was at work so he missed out,the meal ended with me and Gina having 7 desserts, which upset Andrew when we told him later,as he is the dessert king, and missed out on it all,in the evening we went out to a Bengali restaurant which is very good, and Andrew did his best to eat enough to alleviate the body blow of missing the lunch.
The weather here is fine and sunny as usual on this side of the pennines.
Thats all today Graham

Raining in Sheffield

I spoke to Al on the phone yesterday they are back at their city dwelling and it seems there was a torrential downpour which emptied millhouses park,we saw a few spots around 7pm,but had rain during the night and now its bright and sunny.
We sometimes meet up in Boston for window shopping and lunch at a little cafe with an outside area overlooking the river witham, and it seems in our absence on this accasion they had a roast beef dinner and treacle sponge, which he informed me was running in treacle, all lovers of this pudding will know this is the ideal to aim at,and all for around £5.
Harvesting is going on apace here, at the moment its barley but shortly it will be wheat, our chickens are looking fondly at the barley field next to the little house,it must be their equivalent of treacle sponge.
