The Great "Outback"Escape

Today I am escaping to our version of the outback, working on a farm where no Television Olympic Hyperbole will disturb the peace and quiet.
Update, I am back from the Lincolshire outback job done and the Hyperbole is still going on,perhaps the australian outback would be a good place to escape it.

Boring Olympics

Most sport is for shallow minded individuals who need something to occupy them when not working at earning a living and the Olympic coverage on BBC tv has now become a mecca for them, sadly alternative viewing for otherwise interested people is at a low level.

Imagine

To appreciate the creation of a work of art like the Olympic opening ceremony it helps to place yourself in the position of the artist in this case Danny Boyle, imagine the task facing you as a blank piece of paper or a blank canvas and then write or paint your idea.

Olympic ceremony

The first half of the opening ceremony was  creative magic, after that it degenerated into a west end musical,  and could have done with Frankie Boyle to lift it a little, though that Betty Windsor's "smile" made up for a lot,it must have been James Bond shoving her out of the helicopter that upset her.
On an artistic note I think the only two countries capable of this high level of artistic creativity are England and Italy,(remember Fellini?)and the country least likely to appreciate it is the USA which in international terms is totally insular and unaware of cultural and political differences though there are a small number of US residents who need to decide which nationality they are, there is talk of' "us" when they are no longer one of us and have adopted the money grubbing attitude of their new nation which places individual wealth before community health, though no doubt they would use our excellent free health care which the English Artist  Danny Boyle spotlighted  in his opening ceremony work of art, should they be unfortunate enough  to have need of it while visiting our green and pleasant land and averting their gaze from the smoking chimneys and pitheads.

Too late

Seems I am too late with my offer of free labour,Sam the pom has paid $180 (£90) a roll for wallpaper it's now official ,  he has more money than sense, and think of all the moisture absorbing qualities of paper in a humid tropical climate! these youngsters just will not listen to advice from know it all old codgers.

Rip off

I never had Sam the pom down as a 'more money than sense' type of bloke,$180 for a roll of wallpaper is ridiculous,I will go over and paint him the design on if he buys the paint, I can't stand to see people ripped off,it would be cheaper to paint a Rolf Harris type mural in fact. Graham ,who is the man who can.

Mining

British coal were fined yesterday for negligence which caused the death of one miner at Kellingley Colliery and possibly another one which is I think sub judice ,a result of the privatisation of the pits safety comes second to profits.

Brave miners at Orgreave in the 1980's

The Spanish miners are being treated in the same way as our lads were under Thatcher, they need the same  support they gave our miners which was of some magnitude. It's amazing how so called former colleagues of Arthur Scargill are now willing to vilify him in not very subtle ways, this is the way of the self seeking enemies of working people and if it comes to standing up and being counted I'm still with Arthur, a leader whose role was honourable during this tough battle, and not with these false friends.

Spanish miners

The Spanish miners from the Asturian region of Spain are once again in the forefront of the working peoples struggle in that land just as they were during the fascist Franco regime.

Yanqui doodle & emperors clothes

If you have wondered how the New York abstract expressionist painters, the drip painterJackson Pollock , Mark Rothko ,Kline and others, made such a mark on the art world in spite of the public scepticism,I have the answer for you it was the CIA who provided the cash, don't take my word for it google it for yourself,so much for open democracy.
I started to read an online book about the mexican mural painter David Alfaro Siqueiros as a result of the above revelation but unfortunately the book by a painter named Philip Stein  ended about 2 thirds of the way through and at 20 quid a throw I don't think I will bother with the rest having got what info I want, this bloke led a very adventurous life and if you can get a free download or a library copy give it a whirl.

Falsebook?

The website, Falsebook! seems  to be mostly used  by inhabitants of  a type of disneyworld where everyone is beautiful and living a wonderful life it all brings to mind a Will  the Bard  play with something like this quote in it,"All the worlds a stage, and all the people on it only players".

Flower of Scotland

A dreary day in rainy England made only more acceptable by the forecast for the Scottish Hebridean Isles which leads me into the news that the Greco Germans are now plying their shameful trade in Scotland and imposing on the generosity of that  proud and soon to be separate nation if their independance vote is positive.
It would gladden the heart of this individual if the Jocks were to give permanent residence to the sourfaced old woman and her hangers on,we could then have a proper national anthem that glorifies England and not some miserable featured old woman, the Jocks have a proper anthem"Flower of Scotland" and stirring it is too I don't  know how this would go down with the old woman and her family though.
Perhapsif this is not possible the Yanks could take them in they seem to like them from afar but then don't have to support them financially which is probably a contributing factor, though some of the more recent citizens are not sure whether they are Yanks or Limeys on this Yankee Doodle 4th of July.

Sermon from the mount

Oh dear! a sermon from the mount of Kansas has been delivered by the food vicar it seems we are all disobeying the laws of the god of  fad diets and eating BREAD,and other products of the vile wheat, even drinking the fermented juice of the barley grain and more vile the distilled products of the same dreadful seed.
Though it seems that chocolate digestive biscuits(or cookies as they are known in the land of the diets) are exempt from the laws or kosher if you are of another persuasion, why this should be is left for further sermons on another sabbath.
My poor dear grandmother  spent her 93 years on this spinning globe never having the benefit of this knowledge, and I wonder to what unbelievable age she may have survived if she had been so fortunate as to be in receipt of the vicar of foods sermons, though it would have had to be verbal as she was unable to read or write, maybe it was the wheat that caused this disability or more likely as she told me it was because they had no money to pay the penny a week for schooling and being of a Romany persuasion spent short periods in any one location.
I fear that we of the non dietary religious ideologies are destined to suffer for a few more years as if the 70, nay 71 this very month,  I have already spent on earth are not enough, eating enjoyable food and drinking pleasure inducing  drinks to provide the "experts" with guinea pigs to test their theories on, a  challenge I willingly take on in the knowledge that a shortened pleasurable life could possibly be preferable to the alternative the god of religious diets would have us follow through his preachers.
