Dismal Sunday

Rotherham lost 3-2 at wembley,it's the end of the world as we know it,and England won as a result of 2 own goals by japan.

ENGLAND!

I was only responsible for the photo on the previous blog not the writing,I think we should trounce the Yanks even with a second choice team so lets have no more of that wishfull thinking from Kansas City ,friendly games are not the same as real games, the Italians always play rubbish in friendly games but win the important ones,I think they will win the world cup by the way, realistically the best we can hope for is quarter finals, though it would be nice to be proved wrong, and for ENGLAND to go all the way,I don't really mind who wins it if its not us,as long as it's not the Germans. This weekend all the attention will be on The Millers in the play off final at wembley on Sunday,(local derby with Wednesday beckons)plus of course the Brisbane Wolves game which I am told we shall be able to watch on the computer, still waiting for the website address from our football correspondent in Brisbane.

Warm

Yesterday was pleasantly warm at 30c made me homesick fir Denham West Australia where we had 49c ,I put on a pullover to simulate the temperature at Denham and that solved the problem.
Sadly it's back to normal and lower temperatures for the rest of the week, aahh to be young and emigrate.

Nuts!

This morning I think I shall go for a 120 mile bike ride after taking some of the special drugs cyclists take , eating a handfull of nuts and drinking 40 gallons of water, yes it does seem ridiculous but this apparently is the way we should spend our lives according to the Trick Cyclist of Missouri! on the other hand we could enjoy life and forget the masochism.

Simply the Best

I took my dear wife who is simply the best, to Skegness today on a little excursion,no expense spared when my dearest is the recipient of my generosity,of course she has the good fortune to be my dear wife but I think she deserves more than that, and Skegness it was.
I note that the Pom household are reduced to buying" pre owned" clothes full of holes, (thats second hand to us lesser mortals) I suggest waiting till they visit England and buying some jeans at Asda they are only £3.50 brand new,I bought four pair in case they increase the price.
Hilarious goings on politically here,it seems that Gordy Brown has locked himself in 10 Downing Street and is refusing to leave, the samaritans are on standbye if needed, meanwhile Cleggy and Dave C are sulking and pretending to have talks about amalgamating, this should be easy because they are both parties of the rich and famous, but then so are Gordy's party so lets sit back and enjoy the siege of 10 Downing Sreet, perhaps they might send in the sas to hoik Gordy out.
I have visions of boiling oil cascading from the upstairs window onto the media hacks waiting vulture like outside what a great scene that would be.

A Visit from "Aarr Juaa "

Today we had "our Joe" and his wife visiting for the day or" aarr juaa" as we called him in our incomparable yorkshire dialect ,they were staying nearby in a caravan,we chatted about croc. mick and his dad uncle Ted, Joe could remember him from during the war before he left for Australia to fight the japanese,it seems he was even bigger than our dad according to Joe,and we had a few laughs at things that happened when we were young such as Grandma Millsons inedible apple pies which I used to throw to the hens until she caught me in the act and excluded me from further gifts of pie, how lucky was that?
After I took our visitors back to the van I went up the road to pick up a rabbit our neighbours son shot, and which we shall have for dinner tomorrow, then I had a walk down green lane where the dyke runs and counted seven ducklings so all present and correct.
I almost forgot,Sheila and me went to cast our vote early this morning,I shall leave my reader/s to guess as to how we voted.

Quacked it?

Checked on the ducklings and there are still seven,so no more missing at the moment, they are
swimming away and grubbing in the water protected by mother duck who quickly positioned herself between us.
Our hens are still sitting on eggs and who knows we may get a couple of tame ducks from the black hen who is blissfully unaware that she is sitting on two duck eggs.

Ducklings

I checked the ducks on the dyke yesterday and counted 8,down 2 from the first count and our neighbour rang me later to give me the same news ,so it's either a predator ,or a couple of wreaklings not able to survive, there is a large barn owl flying up and down the dyke so that could be the culprit,I shall do a recount later and hope it stays at 8.
